Rotherham United is thrilled to announce the signing of striker Jonson Clarke-Harris, who will be returning to AESSEAL New York Stadium after his contract with Peterborough United expired. This move is pending approval from the FA and EFL.

Clarke-Harris has agreed to a two-year contract, reuniting with manager Steve Evans, who initially brought him to the club as a record signing for the 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship season from Oldham Athletic. This quick signing comes right after Evans released the club’s 2023/24 retained list, marking Clarke-Harris as his first acquisition of the summer.

During his previous stint at Rotherham, Clarke-Harris scored 10 goals, including a memorable long-range strike against Leeds United in October 2014. Afterward, he moved to Coventry City and then to Bristol Rovers in January 2019, where he truly found his scoring touch, netting 26 goals in 51 appearances.

Peterborough United secured Clarke-Harris’s services in the summer of 2020, where he continued his impressive form. In his first season, he scored 33 goals in 49 matches, leading the team to promotion and earning the Sky Bet League One Golden Boot. He maintained his scoring prowess in the Championship and returned to League One, winning the Golden Boot again with 29 goals in 54 games.

Known for his aerial dominance and clinical finishing, Clarke-Harris leaves Peterborough as the fifth all-time top scorer in the club’s Football League history, with 78 goals in 166 appearances. He aims to continue this impressive form as he returns to Rotherham for the 2024/25 campaign.

Rotherham’s manager, Steve Evans, is expected to discuss this significant signing in an upcoming interview. Clarke-Harris’s return is seen as a major boost for the team’s offensive lineup, promising an exciting season ahead for the Millers.
