Juan Soto, the New York Yankees’ superstar, is having a season to remember.
On Tuesday, MLB.com announced their most recent MVP polls for both the American and National Leagues, with Soto receiving the most votes from their panel of voters.
Thomas Harrigan praised Soto’s impact on New York’s lineup after he was acquired from the Padres during the winter. One year after scoring the sixth-lowest number of runs in the Majors, the Yankees now have one of baseball’s highest-scoring attacks, ranking fifth with 4.84 runs per game,” Harrigan noted.
Yankees: Juan Soto is dominating across the board in 2024
The Dominican MVP candidate stands fourth in batting average (.309) and OPS (.947), third in runs (35) and RBIs (37), and fifth in home homers (11) in 2024.
He is the only player in the league who ranks in the top five in each of these statistical categories.
Soto was also an Ironman for the Yankees. He has appeared in all 50 games for New York this season and has the eighth-highest WAR in the Majors, at 2.3.
Soto’s MVP case is strengthened by the Yankees’ success this season
His worth is obvious for a Yankees club that is now leading the AL at 33-17 and appears to be a strong contender for this year’s World Series title. If that isn’t impressive enough, his flawless fielding percentage with no errors in 430 innings at right field dispels any doubt about his abilities in all parts of the game.
Soto is entitled of the #1 slot in the AL MVP rankings so far, thanks to his winning record, unequaled statistical supremacy, and exceptional overall play on offense and defense.
