Caitlin Clark Criticized by Former WNBA Player for Poor Decision

The Indiana Fever suffered a narrow 78-74 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on September 13, marking their fourth defeat in 10 games. Rookie star Caitlin Clark had a chance to give her team the lead with just over a minute left but missed a deep shot from 30 feet. Although the Fever had further opportunities, fans criticized Clark’s bold attempt as the turning point in the loss.

Former WNBA player Van Whiting also weighed in, calling Clark’s decision a poor one since there were still 15 seconds on the shot clock and a mismatch in the paint involving Aliyah Boston. Despite the critique, Clark finished the game with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists, setting a single-season record for assists. However, the Fever were swept by the Aces in their four-game series. Whiting, who played three years in the WNBA, compared Clark to NBA star Steph Curry in a later tweet and also criticized what she perceives as a double standard in the league.
