Wigan Warriors and Warrington wolves tipped to join NRL’s Las Vegas weekend as Super League representatives
Wigan Warriors are expected to represent Super League alongside Warrington Wolves at the NRL’s Las Vegas showpiece tournament next year.
According to League Express, the two clubs are being lined up if the NRL invites the Super League to play on its first weekend in 2025.
For the first time, the NRL season began in Las Vegas earlier in March with a double-header featuring the Manly Sea Eagles, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Sydney Roosters, and Brisbane Broncos, witnessed by over 40,000 fans at Allegiant Stadium.
The NRL favours Warrington with the appointment of superstar Sam Burgess before of the 2024 Super League season, but Wigan won a record-equaling fifth World Club Challenge victory earlier in February and are now Super League champions.
Rugby League Commercial managing director Rhodri Jones has previously stated that the World Club Challenge would be an excellent addition to the Las Vegas weekend.
The fixture has always been held in either England or Australia, with this year’s sold-out match versus the Penrith Panthers taking place at the newly christened The Brick Community Stadium.
“If possible, it would be an opportunity for the British game to participate in what was an excellent event in 2024, but in a new territory, which would be a fantastic experience for our players and fans.”
“But the how and on what terms is the key to making it a reality.”
