Ex-WNBA Star Renee Montgomery Faces Backlash Over Bold Claims in Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese Feud

Two-time WNBA All-Star Renee Montgomery has recently stirred controversy after her podcast remarks directed at a segment of Caitlin Clark’s supporters. As Atlanta Dream co-owner and vice president, Montgomery criticized what she referred to as Clark’s “stans,” accusing them of unethical behavior, particularly towards Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky. Montgomery alleged that some fans even circulated fake nude photos of Reese, which she described as crossing a serious line.

She likened the situation to an Atlanta Falcons fan fabricating inappropriate images of New Orleans Saints players and sending them to their families. Her strong statements immediately went viral, triggering widespread reactions across social media.

While many agreed that such actions are completely unacceptable, others condemned Montgomery for what they saw as overgeneralization. Critics argued that the behavior of a few individuals should not reflect the entire Caitlin Clark fanbase, pointing out that Clark herself has been subjected to similar attacks. Some also emphasized that these incidents are more a reflection of online trolling rather than a specific fandom issue.

Despite the polarizing debate, one point of consensus emerged: such behavior has no place in sports or society, regardless of allegiance.
