Tranmere Rovers have successfully secured the services of defenders Connor Wood and Lee O’Connor for an additional year, with both players signing one-year contract extensions with the League Two club.
Connor Wood, who plays as a left-back, has quickly established himself as a vital part of Nigel Adkins’ squad since joining from Leyton Orient last summer. At 27, Wood has made a significant impact with 29 appearances for Rovers, earning him a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2025.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old right-back Lee O’Connor has also committed to another year with Tranmere, following an impressive season where he made 41 appearances. O’Connor’s solid performances have been instrumental in the team’s defensive setup.
Manager Nigel Adkins praised both players, highlighting Wood’s consistent performances since becoming a mainstay in the team. “Connor has been a key player for us, and his consistent displays have earned him this extension,” Adkins stated.
Adkins also expressed his satisfaction with O’Connor’s decision to stay, noting his contributions in forming an effective attacking partnership with teammate Rob Apter. “I am really pleased that Lee has extended his stay. He has been outstanding this season, particularly in his role at right-back,” Adkins added.
Tranmere Rovers concluded their season in 16th place in League Two, and these contract extensions reflect the club’s commitment to building a strong foundation for the next campaign. With Wood and O’Connor continuing their journeys at Prenton Park, the club looks forward to their continued contributions on the pitch.
