Harlequins have secured their first major signing for the 2024/25 season with the addition of Samoan international prop Titi Lamositele from Montpellier. The 29-year-old, who has represented both Samoa and the USA, brings a wealth of experience and a history of success to the London club.
Lamositele’s career highlights include winning three Premiership titles with Saracens and a Top 14 title with Montpellier in 2022. His versatility and skill in the front row have made him a valuable asset to his teams over the years. After four successful years in France, he is excited to return to the Premiership and contribute to Harlequins’ future successes.
Harlequins’ Director of Rugby, Billy Millard, expressed his enthusiasm about the new signing, having previously worked with Lamositele during his time with USA Rugby. Millard highlighted Lamositele’s dynamic playing style and extensive experience at both the club and international levels. “Titi is a hard-working, tough ball carrier who adds plenty of power to our scrum,” Millard said. “He will be a significant addition to our team next season.”
Lamositele made his Test debut for the USA in 2013 at just 18 years old, becoming the youngest-ever USA Eagle. He played 32 internationals for the USA, including appearances in the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups, before switching his international allegiance to Samoa in 2023. His success continued with Montpellier, where he won a Challenge Cup in 2021 and the Top 14 title in 2022.
Reflecting on his move, Lamositele said, “I’m excited to be joining Quins. I’ve been impressed with the rugby they have played this season, and I can’t wait to return to the Premiership and link up with my new teammates. I’ve enjoyed my time in France, but I’m excited for this new chapter and I can’t wait to play in front of a packed Quins crowd.”
This signing comes as Harlequins prepare for several departures, including Louis Lynagh, André Esterhuizen, Lovejoy Chawatama, Santiago Garcia Botta, and Will Collier, who is set to join Castres. Lamositele’s arrival is expected to bolster Harlequins’ front row and bring a new level of strength and expertise to the team as they look ahead to the next season.
