On the May 6th edition of Raw, the initial matches for the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments kicked off. These tournaments will reach their climax at the Premium Live Event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 25th. Prior to the broadcast, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce revealed that Drew McIntyre would be unable to participate in his King of the Ring match due to injury, consequently leading to his withdrawal from the entire tournament.
During the opening segment of Raw, it was revealed that Jey Uso would step in as Drew McIntyre’s replacement for the King of the Ring tournament. Uso defeated Finn Balor in the opening round and was slated to face Ilja Dragunov in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, McIntyre wasn’t the only competitor affected by injury.
Later in the event, Iyo Sky emerged victorious in her opening match. Following the bout, Dakota Kai addressed the audience, announcing that Asuka was injured and unable to compete. Kai then announced her substitution for Asuka in the tournament. However, Kai faced defeat against Lyra Valkyria later in the evening.
