Wigan Warriors head coach, Matt Peet, praised Kruise Leeming for his exceptional performance against the Leigh Leopards on Tuesday night. In just his second game back after an injury, Leeming played a pivotal role in Wigan’s 28-6 victory at the Brick Community Stadium.
Leeming was instrumental in many of Wigan’s successful plays, demonstrating his skill around the ruck and strong defensive capabilities. Although he didn’t score any tries, his two try assists were crucial in securing the win for the Warriors.
This victory propelled Wigan to the top of the Super League table, two points clear of their closest rivals. Coach Peet couldn’t hide his admiration for Leeming’s efforts, stating, “He was man of the match for his work rate in defence and his commitment, which were outstanding.”
The win marked Wigan’s second consecutive triumph, dispelling any lingering doubts from their shaky performance in late July. It was also their second match in a challenging schedule of three games within ten days, with an upcoming game against the Leeds Rhinos on Saturday.
Reflecting on the match, Peet noted, “It was a tough test against a strong Leigh team, but we started well, applied pressure, and kept our discipline, which allowed us to score points. We played a simple yet effective game.”
Looking ahead, Peet emphasized the importance of learning from each match. “We need to focus on ourselves and improve daily. There will be more twists and turns, but we must keep learning and talking about our performance.”
This impressive display by Leeming and the team sets a positive tone for the Warriors as they continue their Super League campaign.
