Watch the new music video for Bruce Dickinson’s first song, “Afterglow of Ragnarok.” His first single in 18 year
Bruce Dickinson has released a feature-length video for Afterglow Of Ragnarok – his first new single in 18 years
After months of teasing, Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has released the first taste of his new solo album in the form of Afterglow Of Ragnarok.
The first single to be taken from upcoming album The Mandrake Project comes with a feature-length video, ‘presented in Necrovision’, channelling some real Hammer Horror vibes.
With the story written by Bruce and acclaimed comic writer Tony Lee, we see a cloaked figure sat in a pentagram tossing a coin engraved with an ominous M. Before long things get even weirder, with occult flourishes and even some forced human experimentation. It’s quite a lot to take in and no doubt feeds into the Mandrake Project comic book that accompanies the single release.

Afterglow Of Ragnarok is the first new solo music we’ve heard from Bruce in almost 20 years, following 2005’s Tyranny Of Souls LP. And just like that previous LP, he’s enlisted the talents of guitarist Roy Z.
“This album has been a very personal journey for me and I am extremely proud of it,” said Bruce previously. “Roy Z and I have been planning, writing and recording it for years, and I am very excited for people to finally hear it.
“As for what The Mandrake Project actually is… all will be revealed soon!”
More news about The Mandrake Project – a tracklist, album artwork and the small matter of a release date – is hopefully just around the corner. Stay tuned to Kerrang! for all the latest on Bruce’s next venture.
