The Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2024 is set to take place from May 14 to June 30, featuring the top 16 national teams in both men’s and women’s volleyball. The tournament includes a total of 104 matches for each gender, spanning across various cities worldwide, such as Antalya, Rio de Janeiro, Macau, Arlington, Hong Kong, Fukuoka, Ottawa, Ljubljana, and Manila. The final rounds will be hosted in Bangkok and Lodz.
The women’s competition begins with Türkiye, the reigning champions, facing Japan on May 15 in Antalya. Other key matches include Brazil hosting the United States and Serbia. The men’s competition kicks off with France playing Bulgaria in Antalya on May 21, and defending champions Poland taking on the United States the following day.
The VNL follows a format where the 16 teams are divided into six pools. Each team plays 12 matches in the preliminary phase, competing against a mix of high and lower-ranked teams. The top seven teams, along with the host nations Thailand and Poland, advance to the knockout finals. The final stage consists of quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal matches.
Matches will be broadcast live on various platforms, including Volleyball World TV, which requires a subscription. The tournament is crucial as it offers the final qualifying opportunities for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
