Travis Kelce recently opened up about his admiration for Caitlin Clark and how much he and his family enjoyed having her at a Kansas City Chiefs game in his VIP suite alongside Taylor Swift. The Chiefs’ star tight end had nothing but praise for Clark, calling her one of the most exciting basketball players to watch. Clark, who attended two of Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ shows in Indianapolis last November, later joined the pop superstar at Arrowhead Stadium for Kansas City’s playoff victory over the Houston Texans.
Kelce, currently in the spotlight as he prepares for another Super Bowl appearance, acknowledged the massive attention Clark receives in her own sport. The Indiana Fever star has been a driving force in the rising popularity of women’s basketball, shattering records and drawing widespread acclaim. Kelce noted that Clark’s presence at the Chiefs game was a special moment for him and those around him, emphasizing how she seamlessly connected with everyone in his suite.
“She’s unbelievable, she’s the most fun one to watch right now and one of the best basketball players I’ve ever seen,” Kelce said in New Orleans ahead of the big game. “It’s been so cool seeing her at Taylor’s concert and coming out to a Chiefs game and hanging out with us.” He went on to highlight her warm personality, saying, “She’s so welcoming and just so warm as an individual, and she can handle a conversation with anybody.”
Kelce also pointed out their shared Midwestern roots, with him growing up in Ohio and Clark hailing from Iowa. He credited that background for their easy camaraderie, stating, “She’s from the same cloth as me in that regard as Midwesterners, we tend to just accept everybody with open arms. She was so kind to my family and everyone in the suite when she came to KC. Huge fans of Caitlin Clark in my family and friend group.” While Swift isn’t originally from the Midwest, she has made Nashville her home in recent years, spending more time in Kansas City to be closer to Kelce.
With the Super Bowl fast approaching, Swift is expected to attend Sunday’s game in New Orleans, possibly bringing along some of her famous friends, just as she did for last year’s championship. Meanwhile, Clark will soon begin preparations for her second WNBA season with the Indiana Fever after an impressive rookie campaign. As Kelce, Clark, and Swift continue to make waves in their respective fields, their paths crossing is yet another example of sports and entertainment blending on the biggest stages.
