Tranmere Rovers is excited to announce the opening of trials for its new Elite Development Centre catering to under-14 and under-15 boys. Scheduled to commence from September 2024, this initiative aims to provide young talents with comprehensive football training and competitive match opportunities.
The programme offers training sessions twice a week, supplemented with Saturday fixtures, allowing players to balance their grassroots commitments alongside professional coaching at the first team training ground, The Campus in Leasowe.
For aspiring players, the under-14 trials are set for July 1st and 15th, while under-15 trials will take place on July 2nd and 16th, all at The Campus from 5pm to 6.30pm. Interested candidates can apply directly through Tranmere Rovers’ official channels.
Underpinning the development model is the FA’s 4 Corner Model, designed to foster holistic growth—tactical, technical, social, physical, and psychological—among young footballers. This approach, endorsed by the FA, promises a modern coaching methodology overseen by UEFA qualified coaches.
Tranmere Rovers’ decision to adopt this model aims not only to enhance football provision in Wirral but also to groom future talents akin to Sam Taylor, who progressed from the under-19 team to the first squad. Although no longer part of EPPP, the club’s ‘pay to play’ structure aims to democratize access to professional coaching and competitive fixtures.
Looking ahead, Tranmere plans to expand the programme over the next two years, extending from under-12 to under-16 age groups. This phased implementation reflects the club’s commitment to nurturing talent from a young age.
