Lucky Dube, with 22 albums and 20 international awards, remains one of Africa’s most beloved musical figures. Over a decade after his tragic passing, his impactful messages and evocative lyrics continue to resonate with audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures.
In celebration of what would have been Dube’s 60th birthday this year, the Lucky Dube Legacy Company invites fans worldwide to share their personal stories about how his music has influenced their lives. These stories will be compiled into a special anthology dedicated to celebrating Dube’s remarkable legacy.
The Legacy Company stated, “We understand that Lucky’s music has made a profound impact on many of you. It has served as a beacon of hope and a catalyst for political and social change in various parts of the world, uniting those who cherish it.”
An anthology is a curated collection of literary works such as poems, short stories, or essays. This particular anthology will feature personal accounts from Dube’s dedicated global fanbase.
Tragically, Dube lost his life in a carjacking in 2007 at the age of 43. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and successful African musicians of his time. His unique fusion of reggae, soul, and African musical styles resonated deeply, often accompanying the anti-apartheid movement and promoting social justice.
