Sonny Gray continued his impressive performance with St. Louis as they secured their first three-game win streak of the season by defeating the New York Mets 7-4. Paul Goldschmidt’s early two-run double set the tone for the Cardinals’ victory.

In the ninth inning with the bases loaded, Ryan Helsley sealed the win by retiring Francisco Lindor on a popup, ending Lindor’s struggle at the plate with four previous strikeouts.

The Cardinals capitalized early with runs from Nolan Arenado, Masyn Winn, and Nolan Gorman against Mets pitcher Adrian Houser, who faced challenges throughout the game. Pete Alonso’s milestone 200th home run for the Mets highlighted their efforts.

Sonny Gray stood out on the mound, allowing just one earned run and four hits in six innings while striking out nine. His stellar performance continued his impressive 1.16 ERA in four starts for the Cardinals after recovering from a right hamstring strain earlier in the season.
