Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez has provided a status report regarding his future amidst rumors linking him with a potential move away from the club to join Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Barcelona’s pursuit of Rodriguez is reportedly in an advanced stage, although the midfielder himself has expressed uncertainty about the next steps. Despite being content at Betis, the 30-year-old, who will become a free agent in the summer, has not definitively ruled out the prospect of departing the club.
“I feel like Betis is my home. I’m incredibly comfortable here, genuinely happy. I’ve been part of this club for four and a half years, and I’m truly enjoying these final matches of the season,” he told Marca.
“My decision isn’t solely based on one factor. It hinges on various aspects. I’ve mentioned this before, and I don’t want to raise false hopes or make any premature statements.
“What I can say is that I have a deep affection for this club, its people, even the president. We maintain good communication, and I appreciate that. Ultimately, the decision is multifaceted.
“In life, we have to make choices, and we’ll see what happens when the season concludes. The reality is, neither I nor the club have any certainties about the future at this point.”
Rodriguez joined Betis in 2020 and was instrumental in their Copa del Rey triumph in 2022. This season, he has featured in 20 La Liga matches for the club, finding the net twice.
