Sydney Swans midfielder Chad Warner is hesitant to renew his contract, citing growing interest from his native state of Western Australia.

The 23-year-old has yet to sign a long-term contract, despite his worth skyrocketing with the table-topping Swans sitting at 10-1 heading into their bye in round 12.

Warner is still under contract for another 18 months. The extended conversations allowed West Coast to finalize their offer.

Sydney has already reportedly made an offer for the midfielder, which is causing concern.

Eagles general manager Gavin Bell has displayed real interest in the youthful talent.

“If Chad wishes to return to Perth at any point to continue his career, we would love to have him play for our club,”

Bell told The Sydney Morning Herald. “We are aware that Chad has 18 months remaining on his present deal with Sydney.

Warner has yet to miss a game and is swiftly emerging as one of the contenders for the 2024 Brownlow Medal. Currently, he averages 24.6 disposals and has 19 goals.

Heading into the bye, Sydney leads the AFL table by six points over Essendon.
