St Mirren has secured the signing of midfielder Oisin Smyth on a two-year contract. The 24-year-old joins from Oxford United, the Sky Bet League One play-off champions, where he accumulated 25 appearances.
Smyth, who began his professional journey with Dungannon Swifts, made the switch to Oxford in January 2022. His move to St Mirren marks the club’s fourth addition during the summer transfer window.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Smyth shared his excitement about the facilities and the club’s recent success. “Following the club last season and seeing how well they did was a massive factor,” Smyth stated. He emphasized the positive discussions with the manager, particularly focusing on player development and ample game time.
Smyth is versatile on the pitch, comfortable playing in both deeper and more advanced roles, and is eager to contribute wherever needed. His main goal is to enjoy playing football again and to help St Mirren build on their recent achievements.
This signing highlights St Mirren’s strategic efforts to bolster their squad ahead of the new season, aiming to capitalize on their strong performance last year.
