Craig Levein has signed 29-year-old striker Uche Ikpeazu to a two-year contract with St Johnstone. The two worked together at Hearts, where Ikpeazu scored 10 goals in 55 games.

The frontman spent the season in England’s League One with Port Vale, scoring once in 26 appearances as Darren Moore’s team was demoted to the fourth tier.

“The supporters might know me from my time in the Scottish Premiership before,” Ikpeazu stated. “I am a more mature player now, and I want to exceed my own expectations.

“It was an obvious choice for me. I’ve worked with the gaffer before, and I’m eager to assist the team. “I want to demonstrate my quality and talent.”

Levein brought the striker to Hearts from Cambridge United in 2018 and reckons he will be a “real handful” for defenders as St Johnstone looks to improve on their 10th-place result last season.

“I’m really pleased to get Uche in – and to get him in so early,” he stated.

“I understand exactly what he is capable of. “He is a tremendous handful in the forward area and a superb professional as well. I am confident he will be an excellent contribution to the team and our other attackers at the club.”
