A football analyst has discussed Sheffield Wednesday’s recent significant victory and the influence of one of their key players after a crucial win on Sunday. Sheffield Wednesday secured a notable victory against fellow relegation contenders Blackburn Rovers, triumphing 3-1 at Ewood Park to move out of the relegation zone.
Under Danny Rohl’s management, there’s now a tangible chance of survival for his team, although they still have substantial work ahead with two matches left. Josh Windass opened the scoring in Lancashire, continuing his impactful performance since returning from injury earlier this month.
Windass had been absent since January before making his comeback on April 6. Since then, Sheffield Wednesday hasn’t suffered a defeat, winning twice and drawing twice. While Windass isn’t solely responsible for this turnaround, his return has undoubtedly injected energy into the team, especially crucial given the relegation battle they’re in.
During his recent appearance on TalkSPORT, host Jeff Stelling emphasized this point, stating, “I mean, they have done brilliantly. I think it was three points from the first 12 games when Danny Rohl came in. It was his first management job on his own, you know. They have got Josh Windass back as well, I mean, after injury. Real key for them. He missed a few weeks.”
Although Windass hasn’t been extremely prolific this season with five league goals so far, he contributes significantly to Sheffield Wednesday’s gameplay, consistently showing initiative on the field. In a recent interview with Sky Sports, the forward spoke about the impact Rohl has had on him as a player, saying, “It’s been a tough season for everyone, but since Danny’s come in, he’s changed the way we play, and he’s changed the way we all think. He’s probably the best coach I’ve ever worked with. I just hope we can finish it off with survival.”
