With an American purchase in the works, all eyes are on Sheffield United this summer, and the club is ready to embark on one of the most significant squad rebuilds in recent history.
Only a few days ago, the Blades made public their kept and released lists. However, as expected, the release provided no specific new information. United are in talks with Oli McBurnie, Adam Davies, John Egan, and Ben Osborn about a new contract.
Meanwhile, Daniel Jebbison still has an offer on the table, which the club must make owing to compensation considerations. Even if the player rejects the offer, the Blades are entitled to some compensation due to the player’s age.
Additionally, it was confirmed that the club activated their 12-month options on Jayden Bogle and Rhys Norrington-Davies.
Jordan Amissah, Chris Basham, George Baldock, Wes Foderingham, Max Lowe, Ollie Norwood, and loanees Mason Holgate, Yasser Larouci, James McAtee, and Ben Brereton-Diaz all left the Blades.
Sheffield United make pitch to Steve Cooper
According to the Daily Mail, Sheffield United and Burnley have approached former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper.
The Reds fired the 44-year-old manager in December and replaced him with Nuno Espirito Santo. Despite being fired, Cooper is still highly regarded in English football. Cooper has averaged 1.68 points per game during his management career.
Following their relegation to the Championship, Burnley and Sheffield United have expressed an interest in Cooper, with both teams looking to improve their chances of returning to the Premier League quickly. Despite their interest, Brighton remain the frontrunners to sign the young Welshman.
Most people would expect the Clarets to be keen in securing his services after Vincent Kompany was signed by German powerhouse Bayern Munich this week.
While the Blades have a boyhood fan at the helm, many believe he is the best candidate for the role this summer.
