Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane reluctantly admits that Manchester City is likely to win all their remaining Premier League matches to retain their title this season, following their 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest, who are fighting to avoid relegation, made it tough for Manchester City, but the Blues found their breakthrough after 30 minutes when Josko Gvardiol headed into the net after escaping his marker.
City showed a better performance in the second half and secured the win with a 71st-minute goal from substitute Erling Haaland, who scored in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. After the match, Sky Sports asked Keane for his reaction, which wasn’t encouraging for the rest of the league.
“They’ll be worried about the chances they conceded in the first half, but in the second half, they were more in control,” Keane said. “It’s always good to have players like Haaland to bring on. Even without Phil Foden, Man City knows how to win football matches, even when they’re not at their best.”
“They have solid options off the bench. It’s a habit they’ve built over the last few years, winning games,” he continued. “I think City will win every game from now on. I was worried at first, thinking they might slip up, but Forest missed chances, and City took advantage, which made this win important.”
Manchester City is currently one point behind league leaders Arsenal, who have played one more game than City. Earlier in the day, Arsenal defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in the North London Derby, keeping the pressure on City.
