Bayern executive Max Eberl details strategy for revealing the new coach, while the Austria manager issues a statement.
Ralf Rangnick, the frontrunner for the Bayern Munich manager position, has declined the offer, opting to stay with the Austria national team despite reportedly engaging in extensive discussions to replace Thomas Tuchel at Allianz Arena. With the 65-year-old’s decision, Bayern finds itself in a state of uncertainty regarding their next coach. Other contenders include Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness, and the possibility of Hansi Flick making a comeback.
On Thursday morning, Ralf Rangnick issued a statement to clarify his decision, stating, “I’m fully committed to my role as the coach of the Austrian team. I’m deeply invested in this responsibility and am determined to lead us to success. This decision is not a snub to Bayern Munich; rather, it’s a choice in favor of my current team and our shared objectives. Our focus is entirely on the Euros, and we’re dedicated to achieving the best possible outcome.”
Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, made it clear this week that there won’t be any immediate announcement regarding the managerial appointment. He stated, “No announcement for next season can take place before the return match against Real Madrid.”
