On Friday evening, police responded to a sudden death on Dundonald Road in Kilmarnock, resulting in the road being closed for several hours. The incident involved an 80-year-old cyclist, and no other vehicles were reported to be involved.
The event occurred near Porter Drive, close to the A71 bypass flyover bridge. Authorities have stated that while the death is currently unexplained, there are no indications of suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
Ayrshire Roads Alliance confirmed that Dundonald Road was reopened approximately four hours after the initial report. The closure allowed police to conduct their investigation.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said, “Around 4.05pm on Friday, May 10, police were called to Dundonald Road, Kilmarnock, following the sudden death of an 80-year-old man. The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but there are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
