In an exciting announcement for both the Indiana Fever and the city of Indianapolis, Pacers Sports & Entertainment has revealed plans to break ground on a new $78 million sports performance center. Set to open before the 2027 WNBA season, the facility will be located on the site of the former Marion County Jail in downtown Indianapolis. This state-of-the-art center is designed to provide the Fever’s players with cutting-edge training and recovery amenities, specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of elite female athletes.
The three-story, 108,000-square-foot facility will be a massive step forward for the Indiana Fever, who have previously practiced at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home to the NBA’s Indiana Pacers. Construction is set to begin in August 2025, and the center will be directly connected to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and a nearby parking garage via a skybridge. Pacers Sports & Entertainment owner Herb Simon expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett in securing the ideal location for this groundbreaking project, which is expected to elevate both the team and the city.
The Indiana Fever Sports Performance Center will feature two regulation-size basketball courts bathed in natural light, allowing athletes to practice in optimal conditions. In addition to top-of-the-line strength and conditioning equipment, the facility will include a full-service kitchen, hydration stations, and dedicated spaces for yoga and Pilates. To ensure the athletes’ well-being, the center will offer a comprehensive recovery area with a spa-like atmosphere, including massage therapy, infrared light treatments, a sauna, hydrotherapy pools, and more. With a focus on creating a first-class player experience, this center is designed to support every aspect of an athlete’s lifestyle, both on and off the court.
Fever President Kelly Krauskopf highlighted how this new facility reflects the organization’s commitment to providing players with the best possible resources for success. By designing a space exclusively for women athletes, the Fever aim to set a new standard in women’s professional sports. The facility will also play a key role in strengthening the Fever’s connection with their fans, as it will host fan experiences and a Fever team store, allowing supporters to engage with the team in unique and exciting ways.
Indianapolis is experiencing a surge of interest in women’s sports, and the Indiana Fever’s success has played a significant role in this rise. Mayor Joe Hogsett expressed his pride in seeing Pacers Sports & Entertainment’s investment in women’s basketball, further solidifying Indianapolis’ reputation as a major sports city. With the 2025 WNBA season set to begin in May and Gainbridge Fieldhouse hosting the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game in July, the Fever’s new training center is a sign of even brighter days ahead for the team and their passionate fans.
