Opinion – Notts County should eye move for available Championship ace 

Notts County is preparing for another season in League Two, eager to strengthen their squad during the summer transfer window. Despite a hopeful return to the Football League, their campaign saw them drop from the top-tier chase to mid-table mediocrity, largely due to the challenge of losing manager Luke Williams. Under the guidance of Stuart Maynard, the team showed promising moments towards the end of the season, inspiring hope for a more competitive run next year.

New signings are essential for Notts County, and one player they should consider is veteran winger Albert Adomah. Adomah, a seasoned Championship player, is set to leave QPR this summer after four years with the club. The 36-year-old recently expressed his desire to continue his career closer to his home in the Midlands, even light-heartedly declaring his availability to regional clubs.

Although Adomah’s history with local rivals Nottingham Forest might raise some eyebrows, his brief and less impactful stint there from 2019 to 2020, including a loan to Cardiff City, shouldn’t deter Notts County from pursuing him. Adomah’s experience with clubs like Bristol City, Middlesbrough, and Aston Villa makes him a valuable asset. He can play both as a winger and a wing-back, and stepping down from the Championship to League Two could see him thrive.

Beyond his on-field capabilities, Adomah’s vast experience would be a significant addition to the Meadow Lane dressing room. His leadership and higher-level experience could fill the void left by Jim O’Brien, whose contract is ending. Adomah’s presence could provide much-needed guidance and motivation to the squad, helping them push for better results next season.
