Nirvana Announces 31th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of ‘In Utero’
In celebration of the 31th anniversary of their groundbreaking album ‘In Utero,’ Nirvana has announced a deluxe reissue set to be released on November 15, 2023. The special edition will feature remastered tracks, previously unreleased demos, live recordings, and a collection of rare photographs and artwork from the band’s archives.
Former band members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic have collaborated closely on this project to honor the legacy of the late Kurt Cobain. In a joint statement, they expressed their excitement: “Revisiting ‘In Utero’ has been a profound experience. We are thrilled to share these rare recordings and memories with fans old and new.”
The deluxe edition will be available in multiple formats:
Super Deluxe Box Set: Includes 3 CDs, a Blu-ray disc featuring live performances, a 72-page hardcover book, and collectible memorabilia.
Vinyl Edition: A 4-LP set pressed on 180-gram vinyl, including the original album and additional material.
Digital Release: High-resolution audio available on all major streaming platforms.
Pre-orders have already begun on the band’s official website and through major music retailers. Fans who pre-order will receive an exclusive track, a previously unheard demo of “Heart-Shaped Box.”
In addition to the reissue, a tribute concert is scheduled at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre on December 5, 2023. The event will feature performances by artists influenced by Nirvana, with proceeds going to mental health charities in honor of Cobain’s legacy.
Music critics and fans alike are eagerly anticipating the release. The original ‘In Utero’ album, released in 1993, was both a critical and commercial success, solidifying Nirvana’s place in music history and shaping the future of alternative rock.
