Jake Poole is the new manager of Peterborough United Women.
Poole replaces Dan Lawlor, who was fired at the end of last season after guiding the team to a club-best finish in Midlands Division One of the Women’s National League.
Poole previously worked as a women’s coach and assistant manager at Leicester City and Huddersfield Town, both of which play at a higher level than Posh. He also spent four years with the Long Eaton United Ladies.
Poole is presently the Head of Women’s Football at the University of Nottingham, the top-ranked student body in the UK.
“I’ve been in some really good roles in recent years, at different clubs and I have a lead role in a university setting,” Poole stated on the Posh website. “But this is my first time in a management position. It’s a very exciting move that I’m prepared for, and I’m looking forward to applying my experience to the work.
“It’s an exciting place to be because there is so much ambition. The club has made fantastic development in recent years, and I believe the investment in the women’s programme has been particularly noticeable. I am ready to build on that and attempt to lead the club to even greater heights. I am delighted to start working with this bunch of players. This is a dynamic, ambitious club, and I am thrilled to be here.”
Posh Women’s General Manager Sam Winch said, “I am convinced Jake will provide a fresh perspective and propel our team to new heights.
His enthusiasm for the game and dedication to player development made him the ideal candidate to manage the team and create a new culture within the organization.
Jake’s experience in women’s football is excellent, but what stuck out to me was how his footballing ideals aligned with our club’s new ideology.”
Posh also appointed Georgia Clarke as assistant manager. She has been working for the Posh Foundation and serving as interim manager at Eastern Region League champions Real Bedford Ladies.
