In their 104-101 victory in Game 2 of the first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers, the New York Knicks were the beneficiaries of four erroneous calls by the officiating crew on Monday night.
According to Jack Baer of Yahoo Sports, the final two-minute report following the game revealed that Tyrese Maxey was fouled twice during his drive off an inbounds pass with 27 seconds remaining in regulation. Here’s how the league addressed both incidents:
“Brunson (NYK) tugged Maxey’s (PHI) jersey away from his body, disrupting Maxey’s ability to secure the pass. Additionally, Hart (NYK) moved into Maxey’s (PHI) space and initiated contact with his lower body, causing Maxey to lose balance and fall to the floor.”
While Brunson’s jersey tug may have been subtle and difficult to discern without close scrutiny, Hart’s contact with the 2024 All-Star ultimately led to him falling to the ground.
