Metallica has announced an extension of their M72 World Tour into…
2025, marking the third consecutive year of this global trek. The new schedule includes 21 North American dates, commencing on April 12, 2025, at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas.
The tour will feature a series of “No Repeat Weekend” shows, where the band will perform two nights in each city with different setlists and opening acts. Supporting artists for select dates include Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies, and Ice Nine Kills.
Notably, Metallica is scheduled to perform at Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium in Blacksburg on May 7, 2025. This event is significant as the university’s football team traditionally enters the field to Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” yet this will be the band’s first performance at the venue.
Following the North American leg, Metallica will head to Australia and New Zealand in November 2025, marking their first tour in the region in over a decade. The band will perform in cities including Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, and Auckland, with Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies as supporting acts.
Tickets for the North American dates went on sale to the general public on September 27, 2024, with fan club presales beginning earlier. For the Australian and New Zealand shows, presales began on October 30, with general sales starting on November 4. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit local charities through Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation, supporting hunger relief, workforce education, and other community services.
Fans can anticipate a dynamic setlist featuring tracks from Metallica’s latest album, “72 Seasons,” as well as classics from their extensive catalog. The M72 World Tour, which began in April 2023, has been praised for its innovative stage design and the band’s commitment to delivering unique performances in each city.
