Phil Foden is back in the Manchester City starting lineup for today’s match against Wolves.
Both Foden and Ruben Dias were sidelined briefly due to illness before making their return tonight, with Dias starting on the bench.
Ederson returns to the goal post after recovering from injury.
Manchester City’s sole injury worry was their Brazilian goalkeeper, who had to be substituted at halftime during the Nottingham Forest match due to a shoulder problem. However, Pep Guardiola provided a reassuring update during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“It seemed more serious than it actually was,” Guardiola stated. “He trained yesterday and appears to be in good shape.”
Guardiola’s team is aware that they need to maintain their winning streak to surpass Arsenal in an exciting title race. City requires four more victories to secure the Premier League trophy for the fourth consecutive season.
Erling Haaland, who made a scoring return from injury as a substitute against Forest, is confirmed to start today, as confirmed by Guardiola.
Manchester City’s lineup:
– Starting XI: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Ake, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Silva, De Bruyne, Foden; Haaland
– Substitutes: Ortega, Dias, Stones, Grealish, Doku, Alvarez, Gomez, Nunes, Lewis
The match is scheduled for 5:30 PM BST on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Etihad Stadium.
You can catch the action live on Sky Sports.
