Liberty center Jonquel Jones is set to showcase her long-range shooting skills in the WNBA Three-Point Contest, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
This marks Jones’ second appearance in the contest, having previously secured second place in 2021.
Jones has been a formidable presence from beyond the arc this season, making 40 three-pointers with an impressive 39.6 percent shooting accuracy, placing her ninth in the league and fourth among players with at least 100 attempts.
Despite their prolific shooting, Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark will not participate in this year’s contest. Ionescu, who leads the league with 74 made threes this season, won the 2023 Three-Point Contest with a record-setting performance. Clark, tied for third with 71 made threes, will also sit out.
Joining Jones in the contest are Washington Mystics center Stefanie Dolson (49 made threes, 48.5 percent), Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray (40 made threes, 36 percent), Connecticut Sun guard Marina Mabrey (56 made threes, 34.8 percent), and Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride (76 made threes, 42.7 percent).
The WNBA Three-Point Contest is part of the All-Star Weekend festivities, taking place on Friday in Phoenix. The weekend will culminate in an All-Star game featuring WNBA stars, including Jones and Clark, facing off against a Team USA squad that boasts Liberty’s Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu before they head to the Summer Olympics in Paris.
