At 9:32 a.m. on the day of the tragedy, Liam reportedly sent a text to Roger asking, “Can you get 6 grams?” This message is believed to have referred to a request for cocaine, a substance that Liam had reportedly used in the days prior to his death.
Later that afternoon, at 4:25 p.m., Roger sent a simple message to Liam, asking, “How are you?” However, Liam did not respond to the message. It was around this time that hotel staff became concerned about his well-being and called emergency services. In a recorded call to emergency operators, a hotel employee explained that the singer was “intoxicated with drugs and alcohol” and had been “breaking everything in the room.” The staff member expressed concern that Liam might be in danger due to his state of intoxication and the fact that he was staying in a room with a balcony.
