Three individuals have been charged in connection with the death of Liam Payne, the former One Direction member, following an investigation by Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office. Payne tragically died on October 16 after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires. Authorities found multiple substances in his system at the time of his death, leading to charges of “abandonment of a person followed by death” and “supply and facilitation of narcotics.”
One of the individuals charged was Payne’s regular companion, who is accused of neglecting him. Additionally, a hotel worker who allegedly supplied Payne with cocaine, as well as a drug supplier who provided narcotics two days prior to the incident, were also charged.
Before his death, hotel staff had expressed concerns about Payne’s drug and alcohol use, fearing he might harm himself. Toxicology reports revealed traces of alcohol, cocaine, prescription antidepressants, and “pink cocaine” in his system. The autopsy determined Payne died from multiple trauma caused by the fall, ruling out self-harm or foul play.
Payne’s former bandmates from One Direction shared their devastation over his passing, honoring his memory and offering condolences to his family, friends, and
fans.
