Julian Alaphilippe, the French professional cyclist and former road world champion, was involved in a ghastly car accident last night in his hometown of Saint-Amand-Montrond, France.
According to reports, Alaphilippe was driving home from a training session when his car collided with another vehicle at an intersection. The impact of the crash was so severe that both cars were badly damaged, and Alaphilippe had to be extricated from his vehicle by emergency responders.
Alaphilippe was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were described as serious but not life-threatening. He suffered multiple fractures and lacerations, and is currently in stable condition.
