Jadon Sancho remains uncertain about where he’ll be playing next season, given the ambiguity surrounding his future at Manchester United.
The 24-year-old winger was sidelined by Erik ten Hag after a public dispute last summer, leading to his exclusion from the squad prior to his loan return to Borussia Dortmund in January.
Sancho’s prospects at United seem slim while Ten Hag is in charge, but a change in management could give him another opportunity. Additionally, it’s possible that the Ineos Group, new stakeholders in Manchester United, could influence the decision to exclude him.
Sancho seems to be thriving in the familiar setting of Dortmund, showcasing his skills in their 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.
Returning to Dortmund, where he spent four years before his £73 million transfer to Old Trafford, Sancho admitted he’s pleased to be back in Germany but is unsure about his long-term future. He told CBS, “I came here at 17, and they gave me the chance to play professional football. I’m grateful for the staff and players who welcomed me back.” When United legend Peter Schmeichel asked if he might stay at Dortmund beyond his loan, Sancho replied, “Who me? I really don’t know. I’m just focused on the present right now.”
He was also asked about his chances of earning a spot on England’s Euro 2024 squad. Sancho responded, “I take it game by game, and with performances like today, I hope to keep it going.”
