Jaden Brown has officially left Lincoln City to rejoin St Mirren on a permanent basis. Brown initially joined the Imps for the 2023/24 season, a move seen as a significant acquisition for Mark Kennedy’s squad. The wing-back had recently earned promotion with Sheffield Wednesday and was a product of Tottenham Hotspur’s prestigious academy.
Brown made an impressive debut for Lincoln City against Notts County, earning a nomination for the AllLincoln Man of the Match. However, despite his strong start, Brown’s form waned, and he fell out of favor under three different head coaches. Over his tenure with Lincoln, he managed only 10 League One appearances before being loaned to St Mirren. His time on loan was also challenging as he struggled for game time, largely due to Scott Tanser’s firm hold on the left-back position.
In total, Brown leaves Lincoln City with just 15 appearances. The move to St Mirren is seen as mutually beneficial. Speaking about his return, Brown expressed his enthusiasm: “I loved my time on loan here last season. Although I didn’t get as many games as I wanted, being part of a successful group that qualified for Europe was invaluable. I’m eager to showcase my abilities in big competitions and hope to hit the ground running.”
St Mirren’s manager, Stephen Robinson, echoed this sentiment, highlighting Brown’s potential: “People haven’t yet seen the best of Jaden. He joined us with limited game time, but by the end of his loan, we were very impressed. We needed more competition for Scott Tanser at left-wing back, and Jaden provides that. He can also play in various positions, which strengthens our squad overall. His presence will push everyone to compete harder for starting spots, which is essential for progress.”
Brown’s departure marks another shift in Lincoln City’s squad as they continue to adjust their lineup for the upcoming season.
