In an effort to address childhood hunger across the Midwest, Hy-Vee has partnered with the Caitlin Clark Foundation for a fundraising initiative. Throughout the month of March, customers at Hy-Vee, Dollar Fresh Market, and Fast & Fresh locations will have the opportunity to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar. All funds collected from these donations will go directly to the Caitlin Clark Foundation, which will then distribute the money to local food banks in partnership with Feeding America. This campaign aims to provide critical support for families in need, ensuring that children receive the proper nutrition to succeed.
Caitlin Clark, a prominent figure in women’s basketball, expressed her commitment to improving childhood nutrition. “Nutrition is very important to children’s growth and wellbeing and has been instrumental to my success as an athlete,” she said. By supporting this initiative, Clark hopes to ensure that every child has access to the resources they need to grow and thrive. Her foundation’s mission focuses on uplifting youth and communities through education, sports, and nutrition, recognizing that proper nutrition is a key factor in both academic and athletic success.
Matt Nickell, Vice President of Sports Marketing at Hy-Vee, spoke about the partnership, highlighting Hy-Vee’s longstanding relationship with Clark. Hy-Vee first sponsored Clark in 2021 under her NIL deal, and the company is proud to continue supporting her efforts on and off the court. “This round-up is just one more way we can partner together with our shared belief that feeding and supporting kids today will build stronger communities tomorrow,” Nickell said.
With childhood hunger becoming a critical issue across the country, this initiative is an important step in addressing the needs of food-insecure families. By working together, Hy-Vee and the Caitlin Clark Foundation hope to make a lasting impact, helping to ensure that children across the Midwest have the nutrition they need to succeed in their education and sports.
This collaboration reflects the growing trend of athletes using their platform to support important causes. The Caitlin Clark Foundation’s focus on nutrition and education is a powerful reminder of the influence athletes can have in their communities, both on and off the playing field. As this initiative unfolds, the hope is that more organizations and individuals will join in the effort to combat childhood hunger.
