Hibernian FC goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott may be on his way out of Easter Road following the arrival of Josef Bursik, a former England Under-21 goalkeeper, on loan from Club Brugge. Despite no concrete offers yet, there is growing interest from several English clubs in securing the services of the Ghanaian international.

Wollacott, 27, has two years left on the three-year contract he signed last summer with Hibs. However, after an injury-marred first season in Scottish football, he is eager for more consistent playing time. Hibs, understanding his situation, are open to negotiations now that Bursik has joined the squad.

Hibernian had signed Wollacott from Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee, with then-manager Lee Johnson, who had previously worked with him at Bristol City, backing him as a primary choice. Unfortunately, Wollacott suffered a thigh injury just 20 minutes into his debut in a Europa Conference League match against Inter Club D’Escaldes. This injury led to him losing his starting spot to Scotland legend David Marshall, making only eight more appearances and struggling to regain his form.

Marshall’s retirement at the end of last season created an opportunity for Wollacott to vie for the starting goalkeeper position. However, with the arrival of Bursik, it is anticipated that the 23-year-old will begin the season as Hibs’ first-choice goalkeeper. Bursik has already joined training and is expected to be ready for Hibs’ first pre-season friendly against Edinburgh City, followed by a training camp in the Netherlands.

With Bursik’s arrival, Wollacott’s desire for regular playtime, and the interest from English clubs, it seems likely that Hibs will consider offers for the Ghanaian goalkeeper to facilitate his exit and ensure he finds the playing opportunities he seeks.
