Former Blackpool defender Charlie Goode will look for a new club this summer after being advised by his current team that his contract would not be renewed.
Brentford confirmed its retained list on Sunday (May 19), and Goode was one of five players who left. He, Shandon Baptiste, and Saman Ghoddos are going, while Neal Maupay and Sergio Reguilon’s loans are up.
“Charlie has been extremely unlucky with injuries and illness since joining us,” Phil Giles, Director of Football, explained.
“That said, whenever he played, I always thought he did very well and contributed to some important results, especially during our first season in the Premier League.
“He has demonstrated his ability to play at this level, and it was encouraging to see him play considerable minutes at Wigan towards the end of the season.”
The 28-year-old left the Gtech Community Stadium in August 2020 after making 20 appearances for Northampton Town for £1 million. He has aided the team since its promotion via the play-offs in 2021, appearing six times in the Premier League before loan spells at Sheffield United and Blackpool.
During his three games at Bloomfield Road, he sustained a hamstring injury that kept him out for the balance of his loan stay. The Seasiders were demoted to League One at the end of the season.
