The defender joined Cheltenham Town from Lincoln City in the summer of 2018.
Cheltenham Town captain Seán Long will quit the club this summer, ending his six-year tenure at Whaddon Road, Gloucestershire Live understands.
The 29-year-old, who has led the Robins for the past two seasons, joined the club from Lincoln City in the summer of 2018. He has since made 215 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and assisting the club in winning the League Two title before recording the club’s two best finishes in its 137-year history.
Dublin-born Long started 45 of Cheltenham’s 46 League One games last season, scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory against Port Vale in October. He has played more League One games for the club than any other player.
Second on that list is experienced midfielder Liam Sercombe, who will also depart Cheltenham this summer. Both players turned down Cheltenham’s offer of new contracts. Long, a dependable and competitive player, has played right-back, right wing-back, right centre-back, left centre-back, and even center midfield for the club.
