Former Peterborough United Star Finds New Club After Release

Woking has obviously sprung into action with its summer recruiting. Harry Beautyman, a former Peterborough United player, has recently signed on a free transfer.

Following the expiration of his contract at Sutton United, the 32-year-old has moved down to the lower division to provide Woking with much-needed leadership and quality in the midfield.

Beautyman has made 334 appearances for the South London club in two distinct spells, scoring 60 goals since his debut in August 2011.

Between November 2014 and July 2016, Beautyman appeared in 45 games on loan and permanently for the Posh, scoring five goals. Prior to his second spell with Sutton, the 32-year-old had previously played for St. Albans, Welling United, Northampton Town, and Stevenage.

After returning to the U’s in 2018, the Englishman had a significant role in their first EFL appearance, which came at the end of the 2020/21 season, during which Sutton won the National League.

Woking have undoubtedly signed Beautyman to improve their chances of promotion this season, given that he has previously achieved this achievement.

Michael Doyle, Woking’s current manager, expressed his opinion on the significance of this signing:

“Harry Beautyman is a proven winner. He provides a wealth of experience and is an excellent addition to the side. He’s been promoted from this level, he plays hard, and we’re thrilled to have him.

Beautyman has signed a short-term contract with the Cards, lured in part by his strong League One experience with Peterborough. Woking have already signed five new players this week (including the 32-year-old).

Writer’s View

After finishing 17th in the National League last season, only three points above the relegation zone, the Surrey-based club will be trying to spark a total turnaround from last season’s disappointment.

Many new faces with experience and skill have already joined the club, and a push for a play-off spot is increasingly likely.

Beautyman in the fifth level of English football is an absolute steal, given his accomplishments in and around the previous tiers.

Woking have signed a player with a winning mindset, and he comes with high expectations ahead of a crucial season. Both the 32-year-old and the Cards will undoubtedly be ‘ones to watch’ this season.
