Father of Rumored Lakers Star Target Hints at Idea of Son Joining the Team

The Los Angeles Lakers face a challenging situation heading into the offseason following another playoff defeat against the Denver Nuggets.

It’s evident that adjustments are necessary within the organization. Speculation abounds regarding the potential dismissal of head coach Darvin Ham or the acquisition of another star to complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

However, LeBron’s return is also uncertain LeBron James has the option to opt out of his current contract with the Lakers and become a free agent. While most reports suggest he’ll re-sign with the Lakers, nothing is certain in life.

Assuming James returns, he’ll likely push for the Lakers to pursue a third star. Fortunately, the team will have valuable assets, including three first-round draft picks, to facilitate potential trades this offseason.

Players like Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks and Donovan Mitchell from the Cleveland Cavaliers have been linked to the Lakers.

Either addition would create a formidable trio for Los Angeles. Young seems to be the more probable target, with various rumors circulating, including support from his father, who recently endorsed a message suggesting he’s in favor of the Lakers trading for his son.

Acquiring Trae Young would undoubtedly boost the Lakers’ offense, given his elite three-point shooting skills. However, his defensive capabilities, hindered by his slender frame, could pose challenges for the team. Yet, these defensive concerns could be mitigated by surrounding Young with quality wing defenders.

Overall, the potential benefits outweigh the drawbacks in a potential trade for Young, especially considering the Lakers’ urgency to maximize their chances before LeBron James retires.
