Trusted Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano Asserts £52 Million Player’s Agreement to Join Chelsea, Offering Significant Momentum to the Blues
Despite recent promising performances on paper, Chelsea’s overall campaign has been marred by inconsistency, raising uncertainties about the future of head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
At times during the 2023/2024 season, the Argentine coach has faced protests from fans, which coincided with another season for Chelsea devoid of significant trophies, despite a summer spending spree exceeding £400 million.
According to reports, Chelsea have been diligently preparing for the possibility of Pochettino’s departure this summer. However, regardless of whether the former Tottenham manager stays or leaves, the next few months will be crucial for the west London club.
There has been significant concern regarding Chelsea’s adherence to Profit and Sustainability regulations, as the Premier League stipulates a maximum loss of £105 million over three years. Chelsea currently exceed this threshold after two years of extensive spending under chairman Todd Boehly. It’s speculated that they may need to generate £100 million through player sales before June 30 to comply.
The responsibility falls on the shoulders of the Stamford Bridge board to maneuver through this challenge and enhance the squad in vital positions for the upcoming season. With the summer transfer window looming, Chelsea is eager to continue attracting the most promising young talents in football.
Certainly, they’re making significant progress toward that goal, as evidenced by their keen interest in Palmeiras prodigy Estevao Willian. Reports suggest that Chelsea has been readying an official offer for Estevao, and there are even speculations from some media outlets about a potential dual deal with Palmeiras, which could also involve his teammate Luis Guilherme (The Boot Room).
“A few days ago, journalist Jorge Nicola stated that there’s already a frontrunner in the race. Chelsea is reportedly ready to surpass the €60 million release clause,” said Nicola.
“Neither Chelsea nor their two English counterparts are inclined to meet the fixed €60m fee to finalize the deal. Instead, the strategy is to offer a lump sum along with bonuses, in an attempt to persuade Palmeiras to agree to the transfer.”
Converted to pounds, Estevao’s clause stands at approximately £52 million, and Romano has recently provided a significant update regarding his potential transfer to Chelsea
Fabrizio Romano reports that Estevao has given his agreement to join Chelsea
Speaking with X, the esteemed journalist asserts that Estevao has verbally agreed to the personal terms offered by Chelsea, while they are currently in the process of preparing an offer.
Romano conveyed, “Chelsea has reached a verbal agreement with Willian Estevão regarding personal terms.”
He added, “I’ve been informed that while the initial bid is yet to be dispatched, it’s expected to be approximately €32m plus add-ons. Discussions with Palmeiras will ensue. No formal agreement has been reached, but Chelsea has maintained their position as frontrunners since January.
The Brazilian youngster is poised to be an exhilarating prospect, with his agent Andre Crury drawing parallels to Lionel Messi and expressing confidence in his potential to claim the Ballon d’Or in the future.
