The sudden and heartbreaking death of Liam Payne, who tragically fell from a hotel balcony in Argentina last October, has left fans and loved ones in shock. An eyewitness, Bret Watson, who was present at the scene, has come forward to share his experience of the devastating event.
Watson, who was in Argentina preparing for his wedding at the time, was meeting with the wedding planner when the incident occurred. He recalled, “We were in the hotel room and had just gone to the window to show her the view of the pool area. That’s when we saw Liam fall.” His voice filled with emotion as he continued, “We rushed to the balcony, and when we looked down, we could see him lying motionless on the ground. He was face-up, so there was no mistaking it was Liam.”
The eyewitness was staying in a room on the hotel’s first floor, which gave him a clear view of the tragic fall. “Witnessing someone fall like that is devastating,” Watson said, adding that the most haunting part was hearing the impact as Liam hit the ground. “The sound of it was something I’ll never forget. And seeing the aftermath immediately after—it’s burned into my memory forever.”
Before the tragic fall, Watson and other wedding guests noticed Liam displaying erratic behavior in the hotel lobby. He reportedly became agitated, slamming his laptop on the ground and shouting profanities, which led to hotel staff escorting him out. However, Liam’s close friend, Roger Nores, who has denied any involvement in the investigation surrounding the death, offered a different perspective. “Liam was in great spirits,” Nores explained. “He was interacting with everyone, laughing, and enjoying himself, so nothing seemed out of the ordinary.”
In the wake of his death, Liam’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has paid tribute to him by sharing a heartfelt TikTok video, remembering their time together and honoring his memory.
