Former Blackpool defender Mike Jackson has been linked with a move to one of Europe’s top clubs.
The 50-year-old has spent the previous two seasons as a coach under Vincent Kompany at Burnley, and he could now join the ex-Manchester City captain on his next adventure, with the four-time Premier League winner allegedly in advanced talks with Bayern Munich about becoming their new manager.
The retired Belgium international led the Clarets to the Championship title in his first season at Turf Moor, but was unable to retain the Lancashire side in England’s top tier in the following season.
According to Mike McGrath of the Daily Telegraph, Kompany plans to bring his backroom personnel to the Allianz Arena, including Jackson.
During his playing career, the centre defender represented Crewe, Bury, Tranmere Rovers, and Preston North End, in addition to Blackpool.
Between 2006 and 2008, he made 82 appearances for the Seasiders, helping them win the Championship under Simon Grayson.
He hung up his boot while with Shrewsbury Town- which is where he started his coaching journey.
Following a short stint in charge of Tranmere, Jackson joined Burnley in 2021. His time at Turf Moor has included a short stint as caretaker manager following the sacking of Sean Dyche, prior to Kompany’s arrival.
