Indianapolis, IN – The WNBA All-Star 2025 Host Committee has announced the distribution of $1 million in grants to four deserving Hoosier nonprofits, marking the beginning of projects designed to uplift and empower youth and families across Indiana. As Indianapolis prepares to host the WNBA All-Star weekend on July 18-19, 2025, this investment aims to create a lasting impact on the community.
Investing in the Future Generation
“The incredible spirit of WNBA All-Star extends far beyond the court, and by partnering with Hoosier nonprofits we have an opportunity to make lasting change for the next generation,” said WNBA All-Star 2025 Founding Chair and Pacers Sports & Entertainment CEO Mel Raines. The committee focused on organizations that identified critical needs and developed brick-and-mortar projects to support youth development.
Grant Recipients and Their Projects
- Fletcher Place Community Center: Plans include kitchen upgrades, playground improvements, a new greenhouse, and enhancements to the community garden.
- Marion County Commission on Youth: Renovations to align with ADA standards, improve safety, and expand community training capacity. They will also lead the WNBA All-Star 2025 Student Ambassador program.
- Marvella Foundation: Construction of a “Championship Arena” to honor young female athletes, hosting community events, scholarship recipients, and sports camps.
- The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis: Renovation of the basketball court at Al E. Polin Park, making it more accessible and visually appealing.
