“It’s going to be a really good day for the Spanish people,” Carlos Alcaraz remarked after defeating Daniil Medvedev in the Wimbledon semi-finals on July 12th, referring to the Euro 2024 final on Sunday, July 14th.
Alcaraz, a Spaniard, faced boos from the crowd when he playfully hinted that Spain would win the upcoming match against England. In response to the boos, Alcaraz clarified, “I didn’t say Spain were going to win; I just said it’s going to be a really fun day.”
Despite his clarification, the crowd continued to boo, seemingly convinced that Alcaraz was implying a Spanish victory in the European Championship.
