Carlisle United’s Chief Executive, Nigel Clibbens, has announced that the ongoing revamp of Brunton Park, funded by the Piatak family, is expected to surpass £5 million. The substantial investment aims to modernize the stadium, ushering in a new era for the club. This transformation includes the creation of new lounges, executive boxes, and other facilities in the East Stand, along with enhancements at the Warwick Road End.
The extensive renovations also feature significant upgrades to the changing rooms and the Neil Sports Centre. Additionally, a large big screen has been installed in the fan zone, enhancing the match-day experience for supporters. These improvements represent a considerable investment in the club’s infrastructure, marking a pivotal summer of development for Carlisle United.
Nigel Clibbens emphasized the scale of this investment, noting that it is the largest the club has seen in many years. He highlighted the owners’ dedication to advancing the club, pointing out that this level of financial commitment is unprecedented since the construction of the East Stand. Clibbens also mentioned the planned training ground, which is expected to require even more investment.
The Piatak family, through their Castle Sports Group, previously indicated that £4.5 million would be allocated to Brunton Park’s upgrades this summer, with an additional £4 million set aside for the Sheepmount training ground project. This plan has been confirmed in collaboration with Cumberland Council, showcasing a comprehensive approach to enhancing the club’s facilities.
In addition to the physical improvements, Carlisle United is also expanding its team, bringing in new staff to support the club’s growth under its American ownership. Speaking at a recent fixtures breakfast event at Brunton Park, Clibbens described this close season as the busiest he has experienced in his eight years with the club. The ambitious plans and substantial investments reflect the owners’ commitment to positioning Carlisle United for future success.
