Carlisle United has announced their squad numbers for the upcoming 2024/25 season, revealing some notable changes and vacancies that await new signings.

The Blues confirmed the assignments for their 22 first-team members, integrating new signings into the roster. Aaron Hayden returns to his former number 6 jersey, previously held during his earlier stint at Brunton Park. This number became available following the departure of captain Paul Huntington.

Terell Thomas will wear number 4, Cameron Harper takes on number 20, and goalkeeper Jude Smith will sport number 23. Harper, known for wearing 3 at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, yields that number to Jack Armer at Carlisle.

Among retained players, significant number shifts include Harry Lewis moving to number 1 as the first-choice goalkeeper, succeeding Tomas Holy. Alfie McCalmont transitions to number 24 from his former number 10, while Josh Vela now dons number 16 after his move in January last season.

Luke Armstrong shifts from 35 to 29, reflecting his previous successful spell at Harrogate Town. Harrison Neal moves from 33 to 17, and Anton Dudik moves from 37 to 25. Other players retaining their numbers include Sam Lavelle (5), Callum Guy (8), Georgie Kelly (9), Dan Butterworth (11), Taylor Charters (15), Dylan McGeouch (21), Jon Mellish (22), and Ben Barclay (26).

Notably, vacancies remain for numbers 2, 7, and 10, typically assigned to right-sided defenders and creative midfielders, previously held by Jordan Gibson and McCalmont. The club aims to fill these spots with additional signings ahead of the new season.
